Muse On

Muse On is a photograph taken at Manzanita Lake, where the lush greens and golden hues echo the tones of my paintings. This piece delves into the deep contemplation and uncertainty I've faced, particularly in dealing with conflicting medical advice. As much as I longed to flow freely in the water, I found myself retreating inward, questioning my decisions and the guidance I received from doctors. Each answer seemed to contradict the last, leaving me in a state of confusion. This photograph captures that introspective struggle, set against the serene backdrop of the lake, symbolizing the tension between the desire for clarity and the reality of uncertainty.

How Do I Take My Photographs?

I take my photographs by carefully setting up my camera on a tripod in front of the scene. Using a remote trigger with a timer, I position myself and move into the pose I’ve envisioned. It’s essential for me to be in control of the camera and the shot because this process is about reclaiming my own body and deciding how I am portrayed. Through this method, I ensure that I am represented exactly as I wish, on my own terms.
