Stone In Time

Horn Photo 2.png

Stone In Time is a photograph taken at Bagby, designed to reflect the impact of my thyroid removal and its significance in my life. The composition of the piece is deliberately skewed to the right, symbolizing the side of my body from which my thyroid was removed and representing the sense of imbalance that accompanies such a loss. This photograph speaks to the idea of being a single, individual entity within the broader world—though one may feel small or incomplete, each person still has the power to make a meaningful difference during their time here. The thyroid, once a vital part of me, carried memories and supported my existence. Its absence is not just a physical change but a ripple that extends through my world, altering the landscape of my life and influencing how I engage with the world around me.

How Do I Take My Photographs?

I take my photographs by carefully setting up my camera on a tripod in front of the scene. Using a remote trigger with a timer, I position myself and move into the pose I’ve envisioned. It’s essential for me to be in control of the camera and the shot because this process is about reclaiming my own body and deciding how I am portrayed. Through this method, I ensure that I am represented exactly as I wish, on my own terms.
